Bears Bar and Grill opened on 15th November 2017, however, it was far from the first time the owners stepped inside the building.
The new owners have in fact spent most of their childhood in the premises, when it was run by their Father's as an a la carte restaurant - The Marabou
"30 years ago, our Fathers stood on the same spot and opened the doors for the first time, and now we are doing the same" Huseyin said.
"The name above the door may be new, but the ambition is the same - this new business is a tribute to our families, and a tribute to Bexhill - a town we love"
Our Fathers first opened The Marabou in 1987 and it was a well known feature of the town for many years.
While the family business eventually moved on, the cousins had fond memories of their times there.
So when The Marabou came up for sale earlier this year, Memis and Huseyin couldn't pass on the chance to take back the premises that had played such a significant role in their lives.
Following a complete restyle and refurbishment, the premises was re-opened as Bears Bar and Grill.
Memish and Huseyin are already well established restaurateurs - running Bentley's in Western Road - and promise to bring their experience to the table.
Memish said "My Father Mustafa sadly passed away last year. He would've been so proud to see my cousin and I bringing new life back to The Marabou and putting in to practice all he taught us about hard work, excellent service, hearty food cooked with love and most importantly, taking pride in all you do".
